The latest incarnation of customised Internet browser, Avtaar, has been purchased by Jaring of Malaysia, Indonet of Indonesia and KSC of Thailand, who are leaders in Internet service providers (ISPs) with more than half a million subscribers each. This endorsement of Avtaar, a product of Ahmedabad-based Net4Nuts, by such major ISPs is being seen as a stepping stone to the developed markets of Europe and the Middle East countries.

"We decided to venture into south-east Asian markets because the region is out of its worst phase and there are only four to five ISPs remaining out of more than 300," said Chirag Patel, chief executive officer of Net4Nuts. The market here has a stable consumer base with consistent revenue per usage ratio. The ISPs are trying to increase their revenue by providing high-end services to existing consumer base by adding on to the existing facilities. This made Avtaar a valuable proposition to them, he added.

It provides room for additional services irrespective of the service position, thus proving a hub of other services to be integrated with the core offering. In the process, it allows users the tangible benefit of information, which can be tapped across multiple devices.

Avtaar can deliver services to users irrespective of their locus standi, cutting across interaction modes. Using Avtaar, e-mails can be accessed using a cell phone.

"At the enterprise level, the same degree of efficiency can be brought about by Avtaar enabling the flow of information from the corporate intranet being ported across multiple delivery channels, to multiple nodes. The ISPs find it an ideal source to provide additional and peripheral services.
